Mechanisms of Epigenetic Regulation of Chemo-Resistance in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Dr Duohui Jing graduated from Tsinghua University, China in 2004, and undertook doctoral study on Internal Medicine at Technische Universität Dresden, Germany. In 2011, he relocated from Germany to Australia and started his research on molecular mechanisms of chemo-resistance in acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). He has established several cutting-edge techniques such as ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, CRISPR/Cas9, 3C/HiC and more, in ALL patient-derived xenografts. This led to the development of a novel platform that integrated multiple whole-genome approaches with glucocorticoid-based chemotherapy (Blood, first author, 2015; Cancer Cell, first & co-corresponding author, 2018). His work has been featured as the cover story of Cancer Cell and the subject of commentaries in Blood and Cancer Cell, which indicates a substantial recognition in the field. Furthermore, Dr Jing has established an ex vivo co-culture system for maintaining human primary hematopoietic stem cells (Haematologica, first author, 2010 & 2012), and provided technical support for assessing drug efficacy in vivo using bioluminescence imaging (Clin Cancer Res 2017) and single cell profiling (Cancer Cell 2019). His publications have received >900 citations at an average of over 50/article. Over the past 5 years (2015-2019), Dr Jing, as Chief Investigator A, has been awarded 6 grants of a total $1.66M in Australia, including the Australia National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Idea Grant ($653,880) and Cancer Institute NSW Early Career Fellowship ($606,479).
In November 2019, Dr. Jing gave up all research funding in Australia, returned to China full-time, joined the Shanghai Institute of Hematology, Ruijin Hospital, School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and appointed as a group leader. Since then, Dr Jing was awarded several honorary titles.
